A
Lease too Short
Not since 1944 has a summer been so fine
"The strawberries were as woody as 1950s station
wagons but the corn! My God, the corn. In the spring I had invested a thousand
dollars in new bridgework and corn on the cob, impossible to handle for
so many years, spilled melting butter on my chin for a hundred dinners.
Now I know, many of you are saying, what is wrong with this merry fool?
Doesn¹t he know that this summer was a time of corporate rot, child
abduction, Liberal malfeasance and a threatened baseball strike? "
