Valentines illustration
I had a little extra energy last month so I drew up a Valentine. The concept behind it arose from me thinking about childhood and how parts of your character can be defined way back when. For instance, I was trying to get my illustration work on a newspaper cover in Calgary when I was around five years old. No Kidding, I did try. It didn't work though. I came back to wanting to do illustrations for covers 25 years later though and I tried again. This time it worked. I never really stopped drawing...
Most of us can remember little boys or girls in their class who gave away multitudes of valentines year after year. Some of us even drew them ourselves! Anyway, it's a little hard to tell, but all the valentines in this cover are marked To. For this red haired woman, keeping parts of her childhood character is not a bad thing, she's giving away handfuls of valentines and that's just the way she is.
